We are now transitioning to the monitoring phase of the cleanup in coordination with the local agencies. A monitoring phase includes remote monitoring systems that will be placed in the impacted areas to continuously collect data. This phase also will include water and sediment sampling, which will take place weekly. Throughout the monitoring phase we will study the data collected and let the data guide next steps. By monitoring the pH, water temperature, and dissolved oxygen (DO) in the water, we can gauge whether more remediation is needed and how much monitoring is necessary to determine that the situation is resolved.

 

Simply put, this is the stage where we trust (the cleanup process) but verify (it is complete).

Saturday, May 23, 2026
  • The rain this week helped with the overall neutralization efforts and the pH levels continue to improve and stabilize across the impacted areas. 
     
Tuesday, May 19, 2026
  • In advance of the rain, the team worked on targeted areas with the lime solution to then allow to neutralize the water to flow into the more stagnant, low-flow areas of the waterway. The team will be focused on monitoring these areas mid-week following the rain for continued progress. 
     
Friday, May 15, 2026
  • Impacted areas continue to see significant signs of neutralization. Remediation teams have focused on the harder to reach locations with the lime solution and continue the aeration processes where we see the neutral pH readings.  
     
Wednesday, May 13, 2026
  • We continue to see pH increases in portions of the creek which has allowed us to reduce the lime treatment in those areas. We are going to focus in the areas where the water is more stagnant to neutralize and continue with the aeration and circulation. 
     
Tuesday, May 12, 2026
  • Remediation teams continue to see positive trends for pH across the sampling locations and are leveraging agitation and aerification to achieve continued stabilization. As treatment and agitation continue, remediation teams are also formalizing ongoing monitoring plans.

  • Progress continues and focus remains on aerification and circulation after the rain this weekend. 

Weekend Update: Saturday, May 9- Sunday, May 10, 2026
  • Remediation activities occurred through the weekend, and testing shows that conditions are improving with continued neutralization and water stabilization.
     
Friday, May 8, 2026
  • Remediation efforts continued with teams seeing positive trends in neutralization.
     
Wednesday, May 6, 2026
  • Remediation teams continue to neutralize impacted areas of creek water with a lime solution, including the addition of boats for spot hand treatment. Additionally, teams aerated and circulated the water to assist neutralization.

Tuesday, May 5, 2026
  • Remediation efforts are ongoing and included installing limestone filtration dams and conducting lime treatments to neutralize impacted creek areas.
